Briar Rose
Since the very day I was born I had been a princess
On that cursed day I had encountered Maleficent
She’d no invitation to my parents’ court
So upon me she imposed her evil will
At age sixteen I would forever more sleep
Living in eternal sleep
I am still yet I haven’t any peace
In my youth I would sing as I picked berries
And I’d fancy a passing forester
For him I did sing
My voice was his guiding star and to my heart it did him bring
No matter if he is with me
We will never reunite
Nor the three fairies who raised me
My heart does sing but no voice have I
I was hidden from Maleficent upon my infancy
My gift was a dress of blue on my sixteenth birthday
And blood that runs forever cold
I am asleep but I find no rest
My heart stills beats in my paling flesh
Now here I lie
Clad in pink, decaying, rose wielding
I am a great beauty yet I haven’t any joy
Girls in your prime who seek to live a fantasy life
Draw near to my tale and know my life
Whenever you feel a lack of love
Remember Briar told you so
A princess may be I but a princess life is not mine
No- A princess may be I but a princess life is not mine
