Why do You Write?

Anonymous

Short Story

2022-2023 Spring

“Why do you write? Like, actually, why do you write?"

Writing is the act of composing words in a logically flowing way. It serves as a way of improving communication, creating distant realms, spreading important yet crucial themes, or simply getting thoughts down and recorded.

The thespian found herself by writing plays. The comedian found himself by writing jokes.

I found writing to improve my communication in a way slightly easier than direct face-to-face dialogue. It is much more forgiving, allowing revision and edits until it reaches a form of near-perfectness.

From fictional stories to ideas for future projects, writing is the way civilizations turn ideas into concepts for others to enjoy. It can be a deeply personal theme to the writer but is, in essence, still meant to be shared.

He found himself writing funny skits. They found themself by writing poems.

Writing, and in turn reading, is crucial for seeing the world from a perspective we can never experience. It is a nice way to spend some time and let the mind wander into distant realms or time periods or maybe even both. The possibilities are only limited by the writer. Things never once thought to be possible can be turned into a reality for all to be absorbed into. Some write because it is an enjoyable way to unleash creativity and pride.

I am still finding myself so I shall write.
