TW: alcoholism

They said You had love inside Your heart

I knew it to be true

And They said that Your love never showed up

Just another drop of vodka in Your cup

They said love was meaningless to You

Was hate all You knew?

They knew

And They never peered inside Your heart

Yet somehow They just knew You

would tell lies that could never be true

Just another empty promise to fill Your cup

Another promise where You never showed up

You told me to look up

to the life You once knew

The wine in that cup

spilled over the edge into Your heart

I knew it to be true

Love was meaningless to You

I loved You

I showed up

I didn’t make promises that never came true

Yet somehow They always knew

I’d be the one with a broken heart

And not the one with an overload of alcohol in my cup

In the end, I was true

In the end, I filled Your cup

I always knew

That They’d come for You

That They’d handcuff You up

Because You killed my heart

Is it such a crime for love to be true?

Is it such a crime to say “I love you”?

Is it such a crime to not fill Your cup

Up?

They knew

They always knew that it’d end in a broken, and still breaking, heart.
