My Pledge to YOUR Flag

2020-2021
I pledge allegiance to YOUR flag of the United States of America
and to YOUR republic in which we stand,
one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and Justice for Who?
We yell and scream please don’t shoot but you do it anyways
as our bodies hit the ground in need of air you watch us,
As we beg for you to help but you shoot again and again,
you knock us down like we are buildings and you are boulders.
I am a young black child only 15 but I already know too much about killings, murders, and black on white crime.
I wanna be the one to make a difference,
Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks all tried to make this world equal,
make this world a better place.
So many black men and children lose their life just because of our skin color,
we don’t need guns, you wanna know why?
Because our blackness is a weapon they fear,
I want to live, I want everyone to hear my voice.
It’s sad to say as I walk into the mall I’m followed around
Is it actually because I did something wrong or because of my blackness.
I fear for my life.
Fear that I won’t make it out alive.
I fear that I won’t make it to see another day.
I wanna go back home to my family but as I walk into the store all the people stare
as one lady even clutches her purse and tells her children to stay close.
We are all born the same and we all even bleed the same,
but no we are not treated the same.
How many of us have to die before it takes you to realize our innocents.
How many protests does it take just for you to give us the justice we need.
You tell us to put our hands up and we do so,
you tell us to get on the ground
but when we tell you please don’t shoot you do it with no hesitation.
You get to go back to your happy family while we fight for our life.
When a black man kills a white man it’s a murder but when a white man kills a black man he was protecting himself.
That’s a whole bunch of B.S that can be saved for the birds.
It’s hard to say that every time I see a police officer I fear for my life.
Do you know what it’s like to get stopped by the cops and know whether you are going to die or not?
You beat us red, white, and blue because that’s what you stand for, right?
So yeah I pledge allegiance to YOUR flag of the United States of America
and to YOUR republic in which we stand
one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for who?
Yeah, you the man that beats us black white, and navy blue.
