Short Story
2022-2023 Spring
This is a short story about my pregnancy journey aimed towards other teen mothers experiencing the same thing.
Hi, I’m Lynn, and I wanted to tell you about my pregnancy journey as a teen. It was honestly a shock to take a pregnancy test and the result be positive. At that moment, I knew it’d be a HUGE change in my life. Of course I had the indecisive thoughts of whether or not I wanted to go through with it but, in the end, I did choose to keep my baby. I think the toughest thing for me was telling my parents. You never know for sure what the reaction could be dealing with this sort of thing. I got help through VPM from the social worker, nurses and a counselor. I’m happy to say that everything went well, and my mom was pretty excited about it. Right now, I am 34 weeks and I have 37 days left until it’s about time for me to give birth.
The whole point of this story is to speak to other teen moms who are going through the same thing. I want you to know that you can also get help and you’re never alone during something as tough as this. I know how scary it can be. I know how you can be judged simply because of a mistake. I know how people judge you without knowing your story at all. Regardless of whatever choices you choose to make, just know I’ll always support you though I may not know you. Always make these decisions with a clear mind. No matter what people tell you it’s all your choice and no one else’s. Stay strong!
