With My Face Peeled Off

If I peeled of my face and gave you a jew’l
What would you say, what would you do?
With ivory bone exposed to the light
Would you accept me or explode with fright?
When I peel off my face, alone and at home,
Even I cannot see it, to look not condoned
I could take it off, right here and right now
But if you could see it, would you shout and crowd,
Or hold the me inside
As the burned parts still burn
And the hurt parts still crow
Can I move past, can I stay fast
With my face peeled off?
So now that you know that I can peel off my face
Would you bid me to, or just say, “No thanks”
What is truly the cost of baring as bare
As a snake in the cold with no coat and no hair?
Can I know, yes probably,
But will I? Not so probably.
Because when I peel off my face, and let you see it
I’ll see through your eyes and ne’er see again
Through mine with love, if your judgment is harsh.
So why should I see, though I can, it may be
Why look in the mirror of your eyes and your mouth,
Through words shared through mine
With my face peeled off.
